With over twelve years of government affairs experience, Jonathan Rees has represented a variety of businesses,        trade associations, and non-profit organizations before the legislative and executive branches. Jonathan has a            proven track record of success in helping clients achieve their goals.

Prior to joining SBM, Jonathan was the former Director of State Government Affairs for Anheuser-Busch. He                developed, managed and executed plans to drive the company’s legislative strategy and commercial agenda,              including overseeing a lobby team and budget in excess of $1 million within seven states. Jonathan’s efforts                  secured a multimillion-dollar reduction in the company’s tax liability by decoupling from federal tax law in                    Florida, Tennessee and Mississippi; reformed Florida’s Beverage Law governing promotional displays and advertising; and helped defeat anti-competitive legislation in states such as Alabama and North Carolina.

Jonathan is a well-established figure within Florida politics having also served as the deputy legislative affairs director for the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services under Commissioner Adam Putnam, collaborating directly with the Commissioner and department leadership to develop policy and budget initiatives prior to each legislative session.

Before that, Jonathan served as the legislative assistant to former State Representative and Congressman Ross Spano, a Dover Republican, first working to elect Spano in 2012. Jonathan collaborated with elected officials and professional staff to develop policy proposals and strategic initiatives to advance legislation through the Florida House of Representatives.

Jonathan also is a former governmental and political affairs coordinator for Associated Industries of Florida. He graduated magna cum laude with an undergraduate degree in International Affairs from Florida State University.
