Jeff Hartley has been providing effective government relations consulting services to clients for nearly two decades. Jeff, as a shareholder and vice president of Smith Bryan & Myers, has helped grow the firm to become one of the most respected firms in Tallahassee.
His wide range of knowledge was developed through managing highly-targeted House Republican campaigns, where he was responsible for coordinating all fundraising and policy efforts, as well as public appearances, media events and direct mail buys. Additionally, Jeff has served as a liaison between the firm’s clients, House and Senate leadership, the Governor’s office and the Cabinet.
He has coordinated with advocacy groups and built strategic coalitions to successfully champion his clients’ legislative priorities.
Jeff’s diverse portfolio of issues ranges from regulated industries, workers’ compensation, and education to health care, local government, automotive industry, and corrections. Throughout his career, he has developed the reputation as a hardworking, knowledgeable advocate for his clients.
Jeff also has extensive experience with the appropriations process, having secured hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of his clients. He is also one of the state’s most prolific political fundraisers.
Jeff successfully performs a variety of services for SBM’s clients, including:
- Coordination of all of the firm’s fundraising efforts
- Extensive grassroots campaigning on diverse issues
- Organization of client issues and strategy before the legislative and executive branches
- Strategic planning on agency procurement and budgeting items
- Executive appointments and Cabinet activity
Jeff received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Political Communications from Florida State University. He serves on the Board of Directors for Ameris Bank, as well as the Ronald McDonald House. Originally from Tampa, Jeff lives in Tallahassee with his wife, Sonya, and daughter, Emma.
