Technology

We are partners in Technology Advocates, a firm created to advocate only on technology related issues. Technology Advocates represents Microsoft and several other information technology related businesses. The State of Florida has traditionally spent approximately $2 billion annually on information technology. There is clearly great opportunity for a technology company in Florida if that company can navigate through the very difficult governance structure that currently exists. The Agency for Enterprise Technology is the entity responsible for developing the short and long term strategic plans for information technology in state government. The Florida Cabinet sits as the head of this Agency. Therefore, technology decisions are made by the Governor, the Attorney General, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Commissioner of Agriculture. In addition, the legislature has created the Technology Review Workgroup, which is responsible for reviewing all state agency information technology plans and recommending which ones should be funded and which ones don’t merit funding. Finally, each agency has its own technology officer as well. We are well familiar with this governance scheme and we are very comfortable that we can help you work through the system to gain business in Florida.
